Mauritanian anti-coup party members shift allegiance to ruling junta

Some 173 members of Mauritania's Popular Progressive Alliance (APP) of Messaoud Ould Boulkhair, which is part of the anti-coup National Forces for Defending of Democracy (FNDD), resigned on Thursday (December 4th) and announced their support for the ruling military junta, Nouakchott newspaper ANI reported. Similar resignations and the recent arrests of several FNDD leaders for misuse of public funds have seriously weakened the anti-coup opposition, ANI added.
