Mauritanian parliament speaker, opposition deputies face dismissal

Mauritanian National Assembly speaker Messaoud Ould Belkheir and five deputies from the anti-coup National Front for the Defence of Democracy (FNDD) have been threatened with dismissal for "absenteeism", PANA quoted parliamentary sources as saying on Wednesday (December 3rd). Following the August 6th military coup which ousted President Sidi Mohamed Ould Sheik Abdallahi, Ould Belkheir and deputies who oppose the ruling military junta have boycotted all sessions of Parliament.
