Algerian parliament to vote on constitutional amendments

2008-11-09

Both houses of the Algerian Parliament will vote Wednesday (November 12th) on constitutional amendments proposed by President Abdelaziz Bouteflika which would effectively remove presidential term limits, local press reported. Bouteflika, although widely expected to run in the elections, has not yet announced he will seek a third term, international press noted, adding that his decision not to submit the draft to a referendum has sparked criticism among the opposition.

And parliament will vote for this unanimously, I am sure. They are going to permit the president to stay on his presidential throne for life and find some sort of trickery to allow his son to in turn become president… for life! And, this will be with the unanimous approval and general agreement of the nation’s vital forces. “Vital forces”!? What vital forces??? What nation??? And, the face—or should I say “façade”—of democracy will be saved, solidified with fake problems and the false foreign threat of our immediate neighbours. This is far more practical. You said “underdevelopment”??? What underdevelopment???
