Bouteflika to submit constitutional amendment bill to cabinet
2008-11-03
Algerian President Abdelaziz Bouteflika will submit his constitutional amendment bill to the cabinet on Monday (November 3rd), Echorouk reported. Last Wednesday, Bouteflika announced plans to change the law in order to afford Algerians greater power to choose their leaders and promote women's political rights. He did not, however, directly state his plan to run for re-election. On Saturday, Prime Minister Ahmed Ouyahia said the amendments will be made public in mid-November and submitted to parliament before the end of the month.
