There is no doubt that Morocco deserves medals (gold, silver and bronze) in athletics and boxing, God willing.
المهندس/ حسن البهكلي Posted 2008-08-09
We wish success to Arabs in Beijing Olympics 2008. It is noticed that Arabs have participated in Olympics for 92 years but they only gained 75 different medals. We hold our hopes on God then the concentrated participation of Arab champions from Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia, Egypt and Tunisia (The second and fourth in the long jump Khouildi, Saabaa, the five cavaliers in equitation and others). The participation of Saudi Arabia with 26 players, they will achieve some good results, God willing. So we wish success to all Arabs in the Machreq and Maghreb.

مغربي Posted 2008-08-10
Peace, mercy and blessings of God be upon you. We the Arab countries don’t take care of Arab athletes and expect them to win medals. We don’t provide any resources for them and ask them to win in the Olympics. So what kind of logic is this? This call is addressed to officials. Thank you.
اعمارة Posted 2008-08-10
I hope that Algerian athletes take more gold medals. I hope that these competitions will be very interesting. Thank you. Your brother Amara from Algeria.

From God we are and to God we shall return about Moroccan sport. Where are athletes like Guerrouj, Aouita and our respectable minister Nawal El Moutawakil? Now we have no football, no boxing and nothing. What are the causes which we should discuss now?

monsef Posted 2008-08-12
I am Monsef from Morocco. I encourage the Moroccan national team of Taekwondo. I hoped to be with them because I am skilled in this sport but I wasn’t lucky.
Karim Posted 2008-08-12
Couscous is our problem. If only we ate less of it then we'd win lots of medals! The only thing is that it's so tasty! On a serious note, the Olympics are about individuals doing the best they can in their chosen field. It shouldn't have anything to do with nationality, ethnicity or religion. It's one physical body against other physical bodies. No more no less! But then, just as everything else in this sad world, everything is hijacked... Governments use a win as propaganda... Nationalists think they're better than everyone else... Weirdos would kill for a medal... Call me an idealist but I applaud all winners, wherever they come from. They are flesh and blood just like everyone of us.
جابري علي من خنشلة الجزائر Posted 2008-08-13
We consider the four participating Maghreb countries in the Olympics as one country. There is no doubt about this. We wish them all success and to Arabs. We wish a third mandate to Bouteflika, God willing.

جمال Posted 2008-08-13
Maybe the Maghreb teams and the Algerians in particular can compete at a continental level and not the world level.
Lyés Hadji Posted 2008-08-13
I hope that Algeria gets even more medals, God willing, especially in swimming, boxing and judo.
abdelkarim zerta Posted 2008-08-13
Morocco is a great legend of the Olympics Games throughout the world and, of course, throughout the Maghreb. We are confident in our athletes. An Algerian said “Moroccans 0000. Tunisians 0000.” I know that he is jealous of our two countries, because Algeria lives in complete terror of the Islamists, generals and Bouteflika. Go Falkano! thank you for your attention.
عمير Posted 2008-08-13
It is very good to be optimistic. In fact, performance requires big efforts and extensive preparations. We thank everyone for their honest participation. We wish them more early and organized efforts as well as success God willing.

We don't expect anything because if you don't have something, you can't achieve any result in it. Save money for the poor of Muslims.
لبنى الليبية Posted 2008-08-13
Where is Libya? We think of you Maghreb people in everything, and you don’t think about it even in the dark days. You stick yourself in every championship. And now in the Olympics, you don’t mention Libya. What, You don’t like it? It's not your fault. It's that of who is giving you more value than you deserve. Libya is participating in swimming, judo and marathon. **** on Algeria, Morocco and Tunisia ****.
محمد Posted 2008-08-13

moustafa Posted 2008-08-14
These bronze medals of ours are, to me, diamond medals. We need to help our athletes and make some real sports policies. When are we going to have a united sports policy for the Maghreb?
ناعومي نعمان الجزائر Posted 2008-08-14
We wish more steady and permanent victories for the sons of dear Algeria. We are proud to belong to such a country. The Algerian citizen is always ready to give for his nation without hesitation. Thanks to the Algerian champions in these games. God willing on other occasions.

cherif Posted 2008-08-14
Bravo to the Algerian judo practitioners! I hope that Algeria as well as all the countries of the Maghreb will get other medals. P.S. To our Moroccan brothers: I would say that, certainly, in terms of the number of medals, Morocco is moving to the forefront of the Maghreb, but you should not forget that this is just one discipline. (Just take a look at running!) Algeria remains the only country to get medals in some other disciplines. –Thank you
fifi Posted 2008-08-14
Oh Lord help Algeria get a golden medal. Thank you. I am from Algeria, Batna.
محمد Posted 2008-08-14
Many congratulations to Algerians. Good luck in Olympic games. Salam.
محمد Posted 2008-08-14
Salam alikum. The pride of the individual in his country, city and family is certainly part of the belief. But better than this is the pride of Arabism and Islam in order to avoid fragmentation and separation. Therefore, I say long live Arabs, (03) three medals. Long live the Maghreb (02) two medals. Long live dear Egypt with its bronze medal. Long live the country of a million and half a million martyrs Algeria (02) with its bronze and silver medal. We ask God more success to all Muslims in different cultural, sport, scientific and technological fields. Long life to our union and merger God willing. Salam alikum.

To my brothers in the Arab Maghreb. We must work hard. The level of Beijing Olympics is very high. Our Maghreb athletes cannot achieve any results. We must work hard and prepare, not just make wishes.
إبراهيم الجزائري Posted 2008-08-15
No Arabs. We are brothers. When an Algerian, Moroccan, Tunisian, Qatari or Saudi wins, he will have lifted the flag of Islam and Arabs in general and the flag of his country in particular. It would represent all of us Arabs.

Algeria has thus far preserved its honour. We expect surprises in the athletics competitions, don’t forget Noureldin Moursli, Hassiba Boulmerka and Hicham Guerrouj, all of whom have brought joy to the Maghreb and the Arab World. Go maghrebis! You are the best!
Un Algérien Filer Posted 2008-08-15
In response to the post made by Abdelkarim Zerta, I only know how to rejoice in the fact that the two medals Algeria got came in spite of our athletes living under the terror of Islamism and—LOL—Bouteflika too, while the athletes living next to us in peace, economic prosperity and, more especially, democracy—LOL—simply still have not been seen in the Olympic Games. We are waiting for you. Long live Algeria! Long live Kabylie! Long live the homeland! Down with the haters! They are helping us in all of our beautiful performances in all the categories, and they are going to die of jealousy!

Congratulations to Arabs for the first gold medal snatched by the Tunisian champion Oussama Mellouli in swimming the 1500m. He has retaliated against the media and saved his honour and the honour of Arabs as he managed only on Day 10 to get a gold medal. This is the first drop of rain God willing after the qualification of the Moroccan Champion Hasna Benhassi to 800m. She won a silver medal in Athens 2004 and she is nominated to win the gold medal in Beijing 2008. There is also the champion of Saudi Arabia, Saaba, in long jump. He qualified to the finals after recording 8.04 m. His world record is 8.19 and 8.21 in the super prize. His personal record is 8.31. His colleague and compatriot Mohamed Khaled didn’t qualify because of a difference of one centimetre with Tchek Marron. He realized 7.93m. This was expected as he has interrupted intensive preparations for his work in the company Aramcou. This didn’t help him in his training and international competitions according his programmes. There are also the five cavaliers of Saudi Arabia. They might get a medal for the teams and individuals. We wish success to all Arabs and learn lessons from the Beijing Olympics 2008 which bears lessons and examples.
نوفل Posted 2008-08-17

With your comments, you are the best in the world. However, reality is different. Go to Beijing yourself and win the gold. My brother puppets, my brother.
boy Posted 2008-08-18
I wish success to the Moroccan national team.
biba Posted 2008-08-19
The most important thing is that we have achieved progress. God willing we go for the best until Arabs become as they were before. God bless you.
sidahmed Posted 2008-08-19
Algeria messes it up when it loses.
محاد Posted 2008-08-19
I am from El Bouira, Algeria. This is the best site on the Olympics.
mhamed Posted 2008-08-19
Victory to Algeria.
mhamed Posted 2008-08-19
Long live Algeria. Algeria of pride and dignity.
ليبي أصيل Posted 2008-08-19
We congratulate all Maghreb, Arab and Muslim people for the medals they won. I ask the administration of the site why was the name of Libya not included in the table even if Libya is one of the pillars of the Arab Maghreb? It is as if you aren’t happy with us. This is your problem, drink from the sea. Don't get too happy and boast a lot about your medals... an American athlete won more medals than all the Arabs and even Ethiopia did better than you.
شرف الدين الجزائر Posted 2008-08-19
This is a sport farce. What is this, Arabs? I have watched all Arab sports, and my blood pressure rose. It becomes even worse with the comments of the athletes. They all say that they are facing the world’s champion. If his level was not the same as yours, you wouldn’t have been invited. Your country spent millions so that you go to China. If this money was invested on a profitable project for the country, it would have been better. If we collect all the medals won by Arabs, we wouldn’t have exceeded the rank 30. A real farce. Thanks to Tunisia for the gold. We hope that it won’t be the only one for Arabs. Thanks to the Algerian silver and I hope it won’t be the only one. Thanks to the Arab Maghreb for saving our honour otherwise we would have left with 0 medals.
abdessamad Posted 2008-08-19
If you don’t mind my brothers, it is the Islamic Maghreb not the Arab Maghreb. Concerning sports, we are good at gossiping. If someone wins, we must comment about him with the good and bad. But we are unjust to them when they lose. Long live Michael Phelps who won gold medals and breaks records.
tounsiia Posted 2008-08-19
This makes me just so happy!!! I went and watched the video of Oussama Mellouli on Dailymotion. The commentator goes crazy! Type in: “dailymotion mellouli tounsi 2008”. It brings you happiness to hear this. Congratulations to all the Arabs, whether they won medals or not!!! -Salam
ghrib fi blado Posted 2008-08-19
Shame on you officials. Look at the level of Morocco in athletics. Stop stealing! But they are the monies of the poor people. You see the results in your sons and daughters. Fear God, He will retaliate against you.
عاشق الجزائرية Posted 2008-08-19
I greet the Algerian people. All this for the eyes of my Algerian darling. Good luck in the Olympics and other events.

Karim Posted 8 days ago {Couscous is our problem. They are flesh and blood just like everyone of us.} Karim, you are SO right! Loved the bit about couscous!2012 is next and how many more Moroccans will go elsewhere where they are more appreciated? But thats nationalistic thinking..........we are all human.
رحمة Posted 2008-08-20
Algeria will surprise you Arabs.
خليل موسى العاتري Posted 2008-08-20
God assist you Algeria. Algeria is the strongest among Arabs but the weakest among foreign countries but not Arab nations.
jhgh Posted 2008-08-20
Long live Morocco!
khaled Posted 2008-08-20
Algeria is the best in these games and the best in everything. Arbitration in China has robbed Arabs of many medals especially Arabs of Africa.
said Posted 2008-08-20
My thanks go to all the Arabs!
كريمة Posted 2008-08-20
Congratulations Arabs for the medals.
msila Posted 2008-08-20
Where are the young Arabs? They are not at the 2008 Olympic Games! All day long, they sit in front of their antennas to keep up on and watch what Bush and Sarkozy are doing so they can criticise them afterwards, but, when it comes to playing sports and representing their countries and nations, they are nowhere. They chew the fat and watch the others do it!
Anonymous Posted 2008-08-21
Another one for Morocco in the 1500-metre.
اخوكم فوزي من الجزائر Posted 2008-08-21
Work hard Arab champions.
Mohamed EL BAKI Posted 2008-08-21
I address my brotherly respect to all the athletes of the Greater Maghreb at the Olympic Games in Beijing, saying “Bravo!” and “Congratulations!” What is important is that they are there, taking part in this and giving all their energy to these competitions. Even if some of them come back without medals, they have done us no dishonour. There is pride in having represented the countries of the Maghreb on the international scene. The athletic spirit, the spirit of solidarity, the spirit of fraternity and friendship between peoples— that is the goal!
اخولو لحسن Posted 2008-08-21
We Arabs don’t care about humble categories which can in the future replace former or present champions. Everyone starts from the base. It is the foundation. Look at the United States of America which takes care of students by encouraging them to practice sports according to rules and regulations and by providing stadiums in different sports and disciplines. This is how they build world champions who are capable of entering competition. However, we expect in every Olympic games from our champions to bring gold medals even if we don’t provide for them the simplest equipment and support. But ultimately they come back empty-handed. So how do we expect anything in the absence of coaching for our champions?
nawel Posted 2008-08-21
Go Algeria! God willing, we are going to get a gold!
salim Posted 2008-08-21
Unfortunately, Morocco won only a bronze medal. All my support to Taekwondo athletes. Thank you. We still have hopes on Taekwondo athletes. Wish them success. Thank you.
schanez Posted 2008-08-21
Algeria is good! Keep it up! But our athletes are incapable of handling their responsibilities, because throughout the entire games we have been losers. Why waste our money on the trip? Thanks- Schanz from Tizi
maghribi Posted 2008-08-21
Thank you, Msila. You made a good point. Long live the young people, be they Moroccan, Algerian or anyone else! In fact, what happened to Libya? Long live Libya!!!
kenitri Posted 2008-08-21
Regarding certain comments: "Algeria has defended its honour" hehehehehehe :-D This is what happens when you are thirsty LOL. Well, I want to say bravo anyhow to the Algerians- two Olympic medals, they're not even dreaming. Morocco disappointed me. Accustomed to great performances, these Games there were just great disappointments. In the end, the biggest achievement goes to the Tunisians, who, just as unknown at the Olympic Games as Algeria, won the gold— something that not even those used to winning could get. Congratulations Tunisians! I will keep my hopes up for the 1500m and marathon. I predict two more medals provided they are precious metal!
najib Posted 2008-08-22
Long live beautiful Tunisia! Thank you, Oussama Mellouli, for what you did for us. This was unforgettable!
youcef Posted 2008-08-22
Before 13 days. I wish to other Algerian athletes success in remaining sports. I want to say that most referees help China in boxing. This is an injustice against Algerian athletes. Thank you. One gold medal for Algeria and it will be the first in the Arab ranking 22/08/2008.
Maghreb el Arabe Posted 2008-08-22
I dont understand why still in these days, algerian and morroccain people still must pushing there nation over each other. Why dont wish luck to you morroccain en algerian neighbours and family. Because at the end we Maghreba al still one family. I SUPPORT ALL THE PEOPLE IN THE MAGHREB WITH THE OLYMPIC GAMES. good luck to all of you. And ooh yes, my condoleance to the victims, family and friends of the boming attacks in northern algerian. PS I am half Morroccain and Algerian Blood
اسامة بن عبد الله Posted 2008-08-22
Long live Algeria. Thank you Benyekhlef and Haddad for this achievement. Together for a better achievement.
امين Posted 2008-08-23
Those who want to win have trained 3 years before the games. However, in the Maghreb (Algeria), they start training one week before the games. How do they want to win medals?
TUNISIEN Posted 2008-08-23
I think that Tunisia was voted the best nation in the Maghreb because, thanks to Oussama Mellouli, it was able to win a gold medal. Long live Tunisia! A gold for the Tunisians!
أحمد Posted 2008-08-23
I wish victory to other Arab athletes in the remaining sports. We thank everyone who participated in these Olympics. Honestly, Arabs haven’t appeared in the required level. However, the preparations of other teams were stronger psychologically and physically. Finally, we thank all the teams who produced all these athletes. We wish them good luck in other competitions. It is not yet over, in Beijing 2008 or other world competitions in all parts of the world. God willing, they will be successful in coming events.

I wished to see the flag of Morocco high in Beijing 2008. However, we remain as we are. It seems impossible. Guerrouj remains the tree which covered the dome. This is always our condition. Six months before the games, we begin selecting the national team. We forgot that waking up early is very rewarding. Some officials have a big share of responsibility. I am also an athlete. I know and see the problems of athletes in our country especially in the sport which I practise ‘judo’. I have been practising it for 15 years and saw many attitudes and people who aren’t associated with the sport who have ruined the judo I the face of everyone. The problem is that I belong to a veteran club in the town of Salé. Here in Italy, I found the help which should have been provided in Morocco. Imagine that in the team in which I play in Italy, in my first course, I attended the delivery of medals to the champions. They also awarded me a medal. You see how they encourage people. They make you love the sport. We have champions, God willing, but some lobbies in Morocco have grinded our champions. They think of money and forget the reputation of the country which should be a priority. May God wake make them aware of their vices. Morocco to death. Evidence of what I said is the Bahraini runner, of Moroccan origins, won a gold medal. Why isn’t this medal Moroccan? If they have helped him with his surgery, he would have lifted the flag of Morocco and say I am Moroccan from grandfather to father. Long live my country. It is a pity. I have seen sadness and sorrow in his eyes despite his statements in which he thanked Bahrain. There is always a return to origins.
Simon Posted 2008-08-23
Um, it seems that nobody here was disappointed in the medals the countries of the Maghreb got!? Azerbaijan has seven million inhabitants and a per capita GDP of $650 and had a civil war in the 1990s and managed to get more medals than all of the countries of the Maghreb combined! Seriously, I would be ashamed!

Peace and mercy of God be upon you. I am shocked at the negligence of the participation of Libya by this site as if we aren’t a member of the Arab Maghreb Union? Why this negligence and denial of Libya? May God forgive you.
BEKKAR Posted 2008-08-24
Olympic Games are very great. Unfortunately Arab participation was timid. Never mind, next time. We wish good luck to all Arabs in all sports.

Salam alikum. At the beginning, I want to thank everyone who contributed to this great work. I thank the president of the capital Beijing. A special greeting to the Chinese president who contributed to this great and unique work. A special greeting to Arabs who weren’t successful in the list of medals. By God the greatest, it is a great work. We hope to enjoy the Olympics of London 2012 God willing.
زلاك ابوبكر Posted 2008-08-25
In the name of God the most gracious the most merciful. Firstly I say that Algerian sports in particular and the Arab in general is limited to the regional level not the world level. Now good results are achieved only in the Arab or African games. This can be attributed to the lack of experience and also the lack of national spirit which was present in the past. We Arabs or Algerians talk only about the past. Peace and mercy of God be upon you.
salah Posted 2008-08-25
Everything is repugnant.
RACHID Posted 2008-08-25
Thank you.

kamel Posted 2008-08-26
All that we Maghrebis have left is eyes for crying. With the exception of those who live abroad, our young people have no athletic or cultural means to express themselves because our country’s leaders—be they in the field of politics or sports—are a most dangerous breed of sharks. There can be no improvement before this extinction of this race!!!
sahbi adderrahim Posted 2008-08-26
Salam alikum. I thank all Arab champions for their participation which wasn't up to the expectations. I just see athletes of the Arab Maghreb. Where are Arabs of the Gulf? We want Arabs to be strong. Thank you.
yasser Posted 2008-08-26
I like this site so much.
fettah55 Posted 2008-08-27
Hi. Honestly, this is a shame in the face of the world. All Arab countries count the medals of their champions. Bravo to Tunisian swimming. Bravo to Hasna Benhassi, a married woman, 30. A big bravo to Gharib in the marathon. 42 km even at his age, 37. Bravo to the two Algerian champions. Where are other representatives? Have they just gone to visit Beijing and buy the latest-generation mobile phones? Oh may Lord assuage our calamity. Always backwardness and favouritism, this is the slogan of Arab countries.
achour Posted 2008-08-27
The Arabs are not professional: they went to China just to lollygag around. We are the worst in the world. We are doing nothing! We are the champions of criticism!
msila Posted 2008-08-27
I have the same thoughts about this as you, Simon. The young people of the Maghreb, especially the Algerians and Moroccans, are sitting behind their screens arguing with one another over the Algerian-Moroccan border being closed or open—as if they can influence anyone or anything—instead of demonstrating their power, strength and know-how at the stadium and training fields.
tarek saifi Posted 2008-09-01
I love Algeria and I hate Morocco. The Western Sahara is Algerian.
