JS Kabylie sack Lang
2009-11-02 Algerian football club JS Kabylie fired French trainer Jean-Christian Lang on Sunday (November 1st). The dismissal followed Lang's "inflammatory statements to the press" about club JSK President Mohand Cherif Hannachi. The two men had reportedly argued for several weeks over technical strategies and player. As to Lang's replacement, Hannachi said, "I can assure you that we will take all the time it takes to find a good coach."
Algeria eliminated from U-17 World Cup

2009-11-01 French car driver Stéphane Peterhansel won the Shamrock Rally du Maroc, following completion of the last stage, "Through Djbel Tadra", on Friday (October 30th). Marc Coma of Spain snatched the bike title. Even though Frenchman Cyril Despres won the bike race on the ground, he was deprived of the title after receiving a fixed penalty for speeding on the liaison road section.
Morocco coach releases preliminary roster for Cameroon qualifier
2009-11-01 Morocco national coach Hassan Moumen named 36 players to his initial list for the November 14th CAN qualifier against Cameroon, Goal.com reported on Friday (October 30th). Yellow card accumulation kept Marouane Chamakh and Amine Erbate off the roster, while Jamal Allioui was excluded for offensive comments after the loss to Gabon. The list is evenly split between international and local players, including first-timers Mehdi Zoubairi, Omar Najdi and Azeddine Hissamay.
Algerian handball club wins African championship

Tunisia wins Maghreb junior judo championships in Tripoli
2009-11-01 Tunisian junior judokas won the 8th Maghreb Junior Championships in Tripoli on Friday (October 30th). Morocco finished second and Algeria took third place. Libya, which organised the competition, finished fourth.
