Mauritania Independence Day celebrations begin

As Mauritania prepares to celebrate the 49th anniversary of independence from colonial rule on Saturday (November 28th), President Mohamed Ould Abdel Aziz is travelling the country to launch several development projects. On Wednesday, he participated in a ceremony to begin construction of the University of Nouakchott. Education Minister Ahmed Ould Bahiya said that laying the university's foundation stone is the first pillar of a programme aimed at improving the quality of Mauritanian education at all levels. President Abdel Aziz will inaugurate several other projects in Rosso on Thursday.
