During the two-day event, representatives of G8 and MENA nations, the EU, the Arab League and other international organisations discussed the situation in the Middle East, the global financial crisis, terrorism, energy, good governance and sustainable development. According to a closing statement, participants "reaffirmed their firm commitment to achieving a just, lasting and comprehensive peace in the Middle East".
