Algerian security services dismantle terrorist cell

07/09/2008

Algerian security services dismantled a terrorist cell on Friday (September 5th) in El Oued in southern Algeria, local press reported. The cell is allegedly linked to al-Qaeda Organisation in the Islamic Maghreb. Four people aged between 24 and 35 were arrested, while investigations are underway to find other group members. The operation follows the deployment one week ago of a new security command in the region. A cache of ammunitions and weapons was reportedly discovered near the city centre.
