Bouteflika kicks off official visit to Cairo

31/03/2008

Following the Arab League Summit in Damascus, Algerian President Abdelaziz Bouteflika headed to Cairo on Sunday (March 30th) for an official visit at the invitation of President Mohamed Hosni Mubarak, APS reported. Bouteflika briefed the Egyptian head of state on the outcome of the Arab summit in Damascus, which Mubarak refused to attend in protest of Syria's policies in Lebanon.

Talks between the two presidents are also expected to focus on bilateral relations following the 6th Algerian-Egyptian High Joint Commission held earlier in March in Algiers, and on other regional issues including Somalia, Darfur and Western Sahara.
