Mauritania dissolves national air carrier

Mauritanian has decided to liquidate its national air carrier after failing to pay $2.7m in debt. The decision, announced Friday (October 12th), comes after the seizure of two leased planes in Paris last month.

A new carrier, Mauritanie Airways, is scheduled to begin operations on November 8th. The new airline is owned by Tunisair, Mauritanian businessman Ould Bouamatou, and the Mauritanian state.
