EU, Israel warn Morocco against terror attacks

10/07/2007

EU and Israeli officials have warned Moroccan authorities against the threat of imminent terrorist attacks, according to a report by Moroccan daily al-Ahdath al-Maghribia issued on Monday (July 9th). The paper said the EU has urged Morocco to reinforce security at embassies, tourist sites and borders. "The European Union's report mentioned the almost certain probability of terrorist strikes against Morocco and named the sites to be targeted by terrorists," it added. Israel reportedly confirmed the same information during last week's meeting in Paris between the Israeli and Moroccan foreign ministers and their top intelligence chiefs. Eleven members of al-Qaeda have slipped into the country, the report said. On Friday, the Moroccan Interior Ministry raised the national terror threat rating to "maximum".

If the EU and Israel warn Morocco of terrorist attacks, then personally I thank Israel for the gesture that shows that terrorism is the enemy of everyone and that has no colour or religion... For this occasion, I am sure that if Arab-Muslim countries re-established relations with Israel, they could possibly bring the religious conflict that exists in the sick minds of the two clans to an end and also bring an end to terrorism, or to those who profit from the conflict to capitalise on the suffering of their brothers and cousins in Israel and Palestine, the two clans of Arab Muslims and Israelis.
