The Moroccan Association for Human Rights denounced the verdicts against Nichane Editor-in-Chief Driss Ksikes and journalist Sanaa Al Aji as "an abuse against the freedom of speech and press". In an interview with MAP after the end of the trial, Ksikes characterised the court's decision not to affirm the sentences recommended by the public prosecutor as wise, but he said the two-month ban of the magazine would have "a heavy economic and psychological impact on the publication and its journalists".

Moroccan Minister of Communication Nabil Benabdellah told 2M TV that "wisdom prevailed" in this trial. "We are undertaking a profound reform of the Press Code and, consequently, there is a need to strengthen this orientation," Benabdellah said. (MAP)
