The prosecutor in the trial against Nichane Editor-in-Chief Driss Ksikes and journalist Sanaa Al Aji requested Monday (January 8th) that the weekly magazine be permanently banned for "damaging the Islamic religion, and publishing of writings contrary to morals and ethics". Ksikes and Al Aji defended their position in the court, saying that the articles were not intended to offend. The prosecutor said that journalists had to "balance liberties with responsibilities", and pushed for prison sentences of three to five years, and a permanent ban of Ksikes and Al Aji from practicing journalism. The verdict is expected on January 15th. (MAP, BBC)

I simply want to say the trial of Nichan, its editor in chief and journalist Sanaa El Aji are facing prosecution not because they violate public and religious morals but because they published jokes about the king himself. This is the real reason!
