Italian Minister of International Trade Emma Bonino is due to arrive on Tuesday (November 21st) in Casablanca as head of a business delegation including Italian Foreign Trade Institute officials, around 160 Italian companies and representatives of the Italian employers' association Confindustria, the Italian Banking Association, Simest, Sace, and Unindustria Treviso. The agenda envisages meetings in Casablanca with Moroccan Prime Minister Driss Jettou, Industry and Trade Minister Salaheddine Mezouar and a group of Moroccan women entrepreneurs.
The mission's objective is to "resume economic relations with the southern Mediterranean coast ahead of the launch of the free trade area, which will include 35 countries as of 2010 and have Italy as its bridge for exchange between Europe and North Africa", ANSA quotes Bonino as saying before her departure. According to her, Italy will have opportunities in the fields of tourism, textile, agriculture, energy, aerospace, railway transport, telecommunications, and big infrastructural projects.
