Magharebia's new look
2008-03-10
By Magharebia – 10/03/08
Welcome to the newly redesigned Magharebia.com! We are proud to launch our new site which features a new look, innovative features and enhanced navigability.
Our team of developers, editors, journalists and linguists has collaborated to bring you what we hope you will consider the best Maghreb news source on the web.
The new design adds great new functionality
The new header showcases the wide range of content the site offers. You can now click directly to topic and country pages filled with news and articles.

The homepage has been completely redesigned to better allow you to sample our changing content. Our reportages, blog reviews and sport roundups are accessible in a block of their own.

One of our newest features allows readers to rate articles with a simple up or down vote.

The homepage also gives you access to the "most popular" articles, "most rated" articles and "most commented" articles to help you see what other readers are doing on the site.

At the bottom of the homepage, you will find a clickable list of all the countries, key figures and topics we have covered in the past 30 days. The size of each keyword indicates the number of times we have covered a particular keyword.

Please have a look around and share your thoughts with us. We look forward to your comments.
Enjoy!
The Magharebia team

Whatever the shortcomings of this site, we highly value the exerted effort and suggest that you open discussion forums, on the condition that the topics of discussion have a direct or indirect impact upon the peoples of the Arab Maghreb, for example the outspread of drugs, this issue of illegal immigration and the economic condition in the region. I thought to propose this corner from my position as a journalist, correspondent, head of the office of the Algerian News daily in Tlemcen. I understand well the importance of this suggestion since I believe in its importance. It is true that transmitting news is useful but contributing to the activation and discussion of some issues is highly important. With the greetings of Chekroune Abdelkader

I want to see the results of the baccalaureate 2008 for the city of Sidi Belabbas and its outskirts.

All things taken into consideration, it seems to me that Arab media has generally not understood what the role of the media with regards to the popular masses should be. They pretend to forget that the number of illiterate people here is quite high. Giving us raw information is not always the honest thing to do; it is imperative that the context of the ins and outs of the event be given so as to explain it; give the keys to understanding and analysis, suggestion. See how the West has succeeded in creating Islamophobia without ever speaking about it!

Why don’t you adopt the method of the BBC? Write your opinion so that I see what I write in a simple and easy way. Why isn't dialog opened about what is written or what is expressed? I have written an opinion/solution about the way of dialog. But I don’t know where it will be published or any assessment about it. So do you think that I will write again because there is no comment about it? Please clarify this to the above email. Thank you.
