Algeria train to counter poor Zambia pitch

2009-06-17

Algeria coach Rabah Saadane feels confident that the Desert Foxes will be able to tackle Zambia's synthetic pitch in Chililabombwe for Saturday's African/World Cup qualifier, Goal.com reported on Wednesday (June 17th). One reported strategy to counter dents on the Konkola stadium field is the use of long balls. "Even during the Zambia-Rwanda match I saw the Zambians lofting the ball. They knew that they couldn’t pass normally in certain spots", Saadane was quoted as telling Le Buteur. He added that after visiting Konkola Stadium with the FAF president last month, he chose South Africa as the Greens' training camp location to replicate expected conditions in Zambia.
