IOC threatens Algeria with suspension
2009-05-04
International Olympic Committee (IOC) Chairman Jacques Rogue sent a letter to Algerian Sports Minister El Hachemi Djiar to voice concern over recent actions by the Algerian Olympic Committee (AOC), Echorouk reported on Sunday (May 3rd). Issues include the postponement of the election assembly and the surprise resignation of AOC chairman Mustapha Berraf. Describing the resignation as "utterly baffling", Rogue said that AOC failure to comply with IOC regulations could lead to a suspension of Algeria from all international competitions.
