Olympic gold medallist Ramzi tests positive for doping
2009-04-30
Morocco-born middle distance runner Rashid Ramzi is among six athletes whose re-tested blood samples from the Beijing Olympic Games came up positive for the performance-enhancing drug CERA, international press reported on Wednesday (April 29th). Ramzi, 28, won Bahrain's first-ever Olympic medal when he grabbed the men's 1500m gold medal. If found guilty of doping, Ramzi faces a suspension, a ban from the 2012 Olympic Games in London and the loss of his medal.
