Algerian Olympic medallist fails to qualify for Beijing

Former Algerian Olympic champion Nouria Merah-Benida failed to qualify for the Beijing Summer Olympics, after finishing 8th in the 1500m event at the Super Grand Prix of Monaco on Tuesday (July 29th), APS reported. The middle distance runner grasped the gold in the 1500m event at the Sydney Olympics in 2000. Algeria will be represented in Beijing by Nahida Touhami. (APS, El Moudjahid)
