2007-03-27
The Algerian and Tunisian Olympic football teams were eliminated in the second round of the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games African Zone qualifiers over the weekend. Algeria was defeated 3-1 by Ethiopia in an away game, and lost on aggregates after an uncomfortable 1-1 draw in Algiers during the first round. Tunisia lost 0-1 to Botswana. The first leg in Tunis finished with a goalless draw. Morocco is the only North African team that made it through to the group stage of the qualifiers after eliminating Botswana 4-0 on aggregates. Teams that qualify after the second round will be divided into three groups of four teams. The winner of each group will qualify for Beijing 2008. (Liberte, Le Soir d'Algerie)
