Algeria's first-division football championship starts

The 45th season of the Algerian first-division football championship started on Thursday (10 August). The first day saw 4-1 victories by Paradou AC over WA Tlemcen and ASO Chlef over NA Hussein Dey. USM Algiers defeated CA Batna 2-0, while Cup of Algeria winner MC Algiers tied 2-2 with USM Blida. Other scores included CR Bélouizdad beating CA Bordj Bou Arreridj 2-0, MC Oran 1-0 over ASM Oran, and JSM Béjaia and OMR El Annasser tying 0-0. The JS Kabylie-ES Setif match was postponed because the former will host an African Champions League Group A game against CS Sfaxien of Tunisia on Sunday. (FAF)
