Morocco shocks India in chess match

Morocco, which is ranked 74th in the world, made chess history when it defeated 2nd-ranked India, 3-1, on the opening day of the 37th World Chess Olympiad in Turin, Italy, on Monday (22 May). Grand Master Hamdouchi Hichem, Arbouche Muhamed, Karim Ismael, and Elbilia Jacques are representing Morocco at the competition, which has a record number of 149 countries in the men's section and 108 countries in the women's section. The championship will run through 4 June. (Khaleej Times, Deepika)
