Middlesbrough is offering a 2m-pound contract to Tunisian fullback Hatem Trabelsi, whose contract with Ajax expires this summer. Middlesbrough coach Steve McClaren says the player is the ideal replacement for Michael Reiziger, who was sold in August and Abel Xavier, who was suspended for drugs. Trabelsi, who played five years in the Netherlands, thinks "there are more opportunities in England. I think it is time for me to meet my destiny there". (Tribalfootball.com)
