The Moroccan tennis team missed the chance to qualify for the Davis Cup World Group after losing 4-1 to Italy at a Euro-African zone second-round contest in Rome that ended on Saturday (30 April). After losing their first singles matches, Mounir El Aarej and Younes El Aynaoui lost in straight sets in a doubles match on Friday (29 April) to Italian pair Daniele Bracciali and Giorgio Galimberti. Morocco did achieve a moral victory the next day when El Aarej beat Filippo Volandri in singles, though Mehdi Tahiri was defeated by Potito Starace in the closing match. (Morocco Times)
