Moroccan runner Abdel Kebir Marchane won the 20th BMW Malta Marathon with a time of 2:19:08, breaking Hugh Jones's 12-year-old record by 22 seconds. "I'm very happy with the record because it was always my intention but I still think I can improve on it. A time of 2:17 is certainly possible, given the right conditions," said Marchane.
