On Tuesday (28 December), 25 cars began the 1,900km Ksahara rally through Tunisia. The rally begins in Tunis and the first five stages pass through Tabarka, Tameghza, Matmata, Tataouine and Gafsa. The last stage will be held 2 January from Gafsa towards Tunis.
"The 25 participating cars will have a course varied between mountains, dunes and tracks," said Kais Chaibi, the rally logistics director. "The rally will be an occasion for the participants to have an idea about our country and our culture." Tunisia is looking at ways to plan and promote more rallies in 2005. (La Presse)
