Moroccan champions Raja Casablanca appointed Frenchman Henri Stambouli to be their new coach to replace sacked compatriot Alain Fiard, the club said on Monday (13 December). Club President Hamid Souiri said Raja awarded Stambouli a one-year contract. Financial terms of the deal are undisclosed with the contract expected to be signed at the end of the week.
Algeria-born Stambouli, 43, coached Tunisia's Club Africain until October when he was fired after only six matches into the new season. An Olympique Marseille goalkeeper in his playing days and former coach of Guinea, Swiss club Sion and France's Sedan, Stambouli was in charge of Mali earlier this year and took the West African country to the Nations Cup semi-finals in Tunisia.
