Moussa Saib was named Algeria's Footballer of the Year in an annual poll of players and coaches conducted by sports magazines El Heddaf and Le Buteur. In his final season as a player this year, the 35-year-old midfielder helped JS Kabylie win the Algerian league title in May and is now the club's coach. Saib polled 389 points on the ballot, ahead of veteran midfielder Billel Dziri (213) of USM Alger and Karim Ziani, who plays for Troyes, France, received 191 points. Saib, a former Algeria captain, previously enjoyed an extensive career in Europe, where he played for England's Tottenham Hotspur, French Auxerre and Spanish Valencia. (BBC)
