Moroccan striker Hicham Zerouali, who formerly played with Aberdeen in Scotland, died in a car accident in Rabat on Sunday (5 December). Zerouali lost control of his car and hit a tree. The 27-year-old international player had scored twice on Saturday (4 December) for his Royal Armed Forces club in a league match and contributed for their winning Morocco's Throne Cup last month. He scored three goals in 17 appearances for the national team and played for Morocco at the 2002 African Nations Cup finals in Mali.

Zerouali played for two and a half seasons in Scotland where he was a favourite of Aberdeen fans who nicknamed him "Zero." In response, he was also allowed to wear the number "zero" on his shirt as his squad number. After playing in Scotland between January 2000 and May 2002, and scoring 13 goals for Aberdeen, he moved to Al Nasr club in the UAE. He returned to play in Morocco last year. (Assabah, Scotsman)
