Morocco Prepares to Fight Poverty in 2005

Moroccan Social Development and Family Minister Abderrahim Harouchi said the government will earmark around $38.8m to combat poverty in 2005. On Tuesday (7 December), Harouchi told Parliament his ministry plans to execute 1,815 local programmes to combat poverty.
Fighting poverty and improving living conditions are a major priority for the Moroccan government, which launched several nationwide socio-economic projects in 2004 to eradicate unsafe housing. (L’Economiste)
