Earthquake Shakes Eastern Algeria

An earthquake measuring 5.7 on the Richter scale struck northern Algeria Wednesday (1 December). According to Algerian National Radio, there were no deaths but 15 people were injured. The earthquake’s epicentre was approximately 5km north of Boumerdes, about 50km east of Algiers. In May 2003, an earthquake killed some 2,300 people in Algeria. (albawaba.com)
