NATO Secretary General Jaap de Hoop Scheffer is visiting Algeria on Thursday (25 November), in a move to boost co-operation with the Arab world on counter-terrorism, defence reform and military training. De Hoop Scheffer will meet with Algerian President Abdelaziz Bouteflika in what is seen by Algiers as a significant step forward in boosting security co-operation with the West. (Reuters)
