Moroccan Authorities Discuss Radio and Television Development

Ahmed Ghazali, chairman of the High Authority of Audiovisual Communication (HACA), announced on Tuesday (23 November) that since his organisation was established in 2002, it has received 90 requests to establish new television and radio stations.
Speaking at the World Summit on the Information Society regional meeting currently under way in Marrakech, Ghazali said the HACA is studying the requests. He added that the decision to liberalise radio and television in Morocco would take time because it implies a set of social, cultural and economic stakes regarding sustainable development and democratic institution building.
