Algeria to Host 5+5 Dialogue Conference

2004-11-22

The foreign ministers conference on the so-called 5+5 Dialogue group begins on Wednesday (23 November) in Oran, Algeria. According to Quai d'Orsay, the two-day conference will stress "the will to give a new impulse to the Euro-Mediterranean process for economic and political modernisation and for the region's stability".

The 5+5 Dialogue brings together ten Mediterranean countries -- Algeria, Libya, Morocco, Mauritania, Tunisia, Spain, France, Italy, Malta and Portugal. The French Foreign Ministry told Quai d'Orsay that the conference "is a space for informal political dialogue, to which we are committed". Last year's 5+5 Dialogue conference was held in Tunis.
