Algerian Government Celebrates Convention for Children's Protection
2004-11-19
The Algerian government celebrated the 15th anniversary of the International Convention for the Protection of Children's Rights, according to Thursday's (18 November) edition of the Algerian La Nouvelle Republique. Algiers ratified the international charter, which appears as article 132 in the Algerian Constitution, acknowledging that the charter supercedes domestic law. Yet many human rights groups in Algeria complain the government is not doing enough to stop child labour and guarantee equal educational access to all children. (albawaba.com)
