The European Investment Bank (EIB) granted Morocco 191m euros to finance three energy and housing projects as part of the Euro-Mediterranean Partnership Programme (Euromed II). The EIB loan will contribute 80 per cent of the cost for construction of the Tangiers wind energy site. The German Development Bank will provide 50m euros and the Moroccan Electricity Office will provide 42m euros. The EIB loan will also combat unhealthy shantytowns by building 100,000 low cost homes to be sold at below market value. (Assabah)
