A joint statement released in New York on Wednesday (3 November) from the Moroccan Permanent Representative to the UN, Mohamed Bennouna, and his Algerian counterpart, Abdallah Baali, expressed a need for détente between their countries. The Moroccan representative voiced his desire for calm between the Moroccan and Algerian delegations after a rise in tensions over the Western Sahara issue. According to the statement, the two countries should continue to build the Arab Maghreb Union, which includes Mauritania, Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia and Libya. (ArabicNews)

Morocco has always extended an open hand to Algeria. The problem is that the latter does not want a union, but, rather, wants to support the Polisario against the legality and legitimacy of its brother/neighbour Morocco. If Algeria would really like neighbourly relations and co-operation, it should denounce these idiots and its support for the separatists. Algeria has already been called on to support a plan for autonomy that would guarantee the dignity of everyone involved.
