Unemployment Rate Climbs in Morocco

The Moroccan National Planning Commission reported the country's unemployment rate rose by 0.5 per cent in the first half of 2004. That translates into a jobless rate of 12.1 per cent. The commission said the number of people entering the labour market rose by 2.3 per cent for the same period. According to Al-Sharq Al-Awsat newspaper, the commission estimates the inflation rate at 1.8 per cent for the first half of the year. (menareport.com)
