Tunisia Begins Enacting Ben Ali's Campaign Promises

Just days after his re-election, aspects of Tunisian President Zine El Abidine Ben Ali's campaign promises are being implemented. Measures were announced on Tuesday (2 November) regarding the banking and currency exchange sectors. Ben Ali and Central Bank Governor Taoufik Baccar discussed raising the tourism travel allowance for Tunisians from $810 to $1,620 per year, increasing the allowance for study abroad and developing medical expense transfer allowances abroad.
