Spanish Government Sets Regularisation Plan for Moroccan Immigrants
2004-10-29
Spanish Minister of Labour and Social Affairs Jesus Caldera announced On Wednesday (27 October) the establishment of a regularisation plan to extend a range of benefits to the 100,000 Moroccan immigrants in Spain. Director of the Association of Moroccan Immigrants and Workers in Spain (ATIME), Mustapha Lamrabet, said the plan is "very positive because it is the fruit of constructive consultations with different social partners and civil society associations". The plan, which applies to Moroccans who entered Spain before June 2004, goes into effect in 2005 and asks beneficiaries to prove at least six weeks of residency. (Assahra Al Maghribia)
