The Algerian League for the Defence of Human Rights (LADDH) has called for the dismissal of Ghardaia's chief magistrate, Abdelmalik Boudiaf, accused by LADDH of spreading lawlessness in the town. At an LADDH press conference Wednesday (27 October), the league demanded that the harassment of its members in Ghardaia and Wargla stop immediately. LADDH President Yahia Abdennour said Boudiaf ignored the concerns of workers and merchants who have gone on strike. A lawyer with LADDH, Abdelmoutaleb Guennan, said his organisation's attorneys are defending many of the strikers in Ghardaia. (El Khabar)
