Algerian Foreign Minister Abdelaziz Belkhadem said Algiers has privileged relations with the UN
In a speech Saturday (23 October), Algerian Foreign Minister Abdelaziz Belkhadem said Algiers has privileged relations with the UN. He and others gathered at the Moufdi Zakaria Culture Palace to mark UN Day. Raymond Janssens, UN co-ordinator resident in Algiers, read a message UN Secretary General Kofi Annan sent to countries around the world. Eight UN agencies are working in Algeria, including the UN Industrial Development Organisation, the UN Development Programme, the World Food Programme, the Food and Agriculture Organisation, the High Commissioner for Refugees, UNICEF, the World Bank and the International Labour Organisation.
