WHO Reports 0.7 Per Cent Increase of AIDS/HIV Cases in Algeria

The World Health Organisation (WHO) reports that in Algeria, 635 people suffer from AIDS and 1,657 are HIV positive. These new figures show a slight increase of 0.07 per cent in AIDS cases. The Algerian Ministry of Health says 70 per cent of those infected are men and 30 per cent are women. The ministry has earmarked $374m from 2002-2006 to fight the spread of AIDS. (Le Matin)
