Mauritanian NGOs seek census of repatriated purge victims

Mauritania's National Forum of Human Rights (FONADH) on Tuesday (October 20th) called for a census to identify all victims of the 1989-1991 ethnic purges, PANA reported. According to the group, some 40,000 refugees who fled the racial and ethnic clashes have returned to Mauritania since 1996.
