UK to decide Khalifa extradition on Saturday
2009-10-21
Algeria's extradition request for convicted billionaire swindler Rafik Khalifa will be decided by a British court next Saturday, Echorouk reported on Tuesday (October 20th). Algerian Justice Minister Tayeb Belaiz reportedly voiced confidence that British authorities would return Khalifa. In 2007, a Blida court sentenced Khalifa in absentia to life in prison on fraud charges surrounding Algeria's largest-ever financial scandal. Khalifa is also wanted in France on embezzlement charges and for alleged involvement in the collapse of Khalifa Airways, Antinéa Airlines and Khalifa Rent-a-Car.
