ASA Summit ends with South-South co-operation plan

The 2nd Africa-South America Summit (ASA) concluded Sunday (September 27th) in Venezuela with the adoption of the Margarita Declaration and Action Plan, international press reported. The declaration covers energy, the fight against drug and human trafficking, the world economic crisis, food security, health, education, climate change and other issues. On Saturday, Algerian President Abdelaziz Bouteflika addressed some thirty heads of state gathered for the weekend event to highlight his vision of South-South co-operation. Libyan leader Moamer Kadhafi also reiterated on Saturday his call for the creation of a "NATO of the South" by 2011, AFP reported. The next ASA summit will be held in Libya.
