In message to Mauritanians, family of slain American speaks of forgiveness

The family of the American aid worker shot dead last week outside his workplace in Nouakchott issued a statement Monday (June 29th) in which they forgave his killers, Journal Tahalil reported. "In a spirit of love, we express our forgiveness for those who took away the life of our remarkable son," the statement said in English, French and Arabic. The family of Christopher Leggett asked "only" that Mauritanian authorities apply justice against the perpetrators. Al-Qaeda Organisation in the Islamic Maghreb claimed responsibility for the murder.
