Bouteflika, Kadhafi to hold talks in Libya
2009-06-17
Algerian President Abdelaziz Bouteflika left Algiers for Tripoli on Wednesday (June 17th), ANSA reported. Local press indicated that the two leaders would likely discuss Sahel security and Algerian prisoners held in Libyan prisons, among other issues. Earlier reports had said that some 54 Algerians, including several women, who remain detained in Libyan jails would be returned between June 15th and 20th. Kadhafi's son, Seif al-Islam, visited Algeria in late May to discuss the issue of the Algerian inmates.
