Mauritania opposition FNDD chooses presidential candidate

Mauritanian opposition National Front for the Defence of Democracy (FNDD) named National Assembly President and Popular Progressive Alliance (APP) party chief Messaoud Ould Boulkheir as the coalition's candidate for the July 18th presidential elections, Journal Tahalil reported on Monday (June 15th). FNDD leaders said that the decision by the moderate Islamist Tawassoul party to nominate their own candidate in no way affects the unity of the coalition.
